Getting ready

OK - we've booked pretty much everything, we've worked out the weather, etc, etc

We are heading for Alaska and then for a trip through Canada. Hence the blog title - the 49th parallel is the US - Canadian border.

We've both finished work - in fact, Michael has retired again. We're off tomorrow.

The plan is for Bernadette and Michael to head for Vancouver and catch a boat to Alaska - through the Inside Passage. This lands us in Anchorage. From there we head to Denali National Park for a couple of days then on to Fairbanks. A "red-eye" gets us to Montreal on the morning of the day that Christine & Maurice land.

Then we have four weeks together, firstly on the east coast, then by train to the Rockies and then to Vancouver.

All booked, all organized and all set to go.

Next step is the first champagne on the plane - the real start of any holiday.
